The Village
Butterknowle is a pretty village within the Gaunless Valley, close to the town of Bishop Auckland. It is home to the Gaunless Valley Visitor Centre which celebrates 600 years of industrial heritage in the area.
The Hall
The Hall (Registered Charity Number: 520749)
The Village Hall is located on Pinfold Lane in Butterknowle. The Hall has served the community since 1962.
The trustees of the Village Hall Association purchased the land on which the hall stands for £311.11s.0d which equates to approximately £4000.00 in today’s money.
The hall was extensively refurbished and modernised in 2001.
The hall is ideal for private and business functions.
Regular activities include WEEKLY, Modern Sequence Dancing, Parent and Toddler Group, Carpet Bowls, Bingo, Zumba, Gentle Martial Arts and Youth Club. MONTHLY, Supper Dance, Open Mic. ANNUALLY, Beer and Music Festival.
Social events are also organised throughout the year.

Facilities: The extensive facilities include an excellent stage and dance floor, spacious bar and dining area, fully modern and well equipped kitchen, a small meeting room. There are toilets including a special access toilet.

There are adequate tables, chairs crockery and cutlery.
There is also an on-site car park with two marked special access spaces.
