Staindrop Scarth Hall

The Village

Staindrop is one of County Durham’s green villages, with mainly eighteenth century stone houses surrounding a series of interlocking greens. In 1971 the centre of the village was designated a Conservation Area in order to secure its protection and improvement.

The Hall

Scarth Memorial Hall in Staindrop village was built in 1875, in memory of Thomas Freshfield Scarth, land agent to the Dukes of Cleveland of Raby Castle.

Following an extensive programme of improvement and refurbishment the Hall now boasts a range of modern facilities including a cinema, IT suite, state-of-the-art kitchen, ramp access for wheelchairs and buggies, and stairlift access to the first floor. We offer a wide range of regular classes and activities, as well as one-off events.

It’s the perfect venue for receptions and gatherings for weddings, funerals, memorials, naming ceremonies, christenings, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, and more.

Scarth Hall is also ideal for holding meetings, conferences, training courses and seminars. We have audio visual facilities in the main hall and the Training room, and free wifi throughout.

The large and well-equipped Hall can accomodate fairs and sales, rehearsals, concerts, stage productions, dance events and more. We can recommend local caterers, and we’ll provide a fully-licensed bar if required. See www.scarthhall.co.uk/book-the-hall
